Colin McCahon was a NZ painter.

Takaka Night and Day (Colin McCahon)

The valley is ruched
into fat folds
plush with grass
and from this green womb
everything will come
Eden will make itself here
and snakes will dwell
in safety toothed
no more treacherous than a rose
wisdom has plumped the hillside
and fed the stream
the sky is light in light
innocence has no meaning here.
