Draping muslin

today I am grey feathers………dust and thirst
not doves       ………………………feral pigeon
my throat a gutter of rainbows
my hard eye wary as glass

a cock pheasant struts his golden stuff
his voice a wooden clack……..I purrcroo
a cushionplumping call
a catbird song

today I am cloud feathers
grey talcumsoft
falling
if I were rain I’d not be wet
